Charming teacher Nastya expects a proposal, but all she gets is a broken heart. Her beloved Vitaly suggests they just stay friends. Soon after, she meets Kirill, a police officer and single father to five-year-old Alyosha. Set up by their well-meaning mothers, the two agree to fake a relationship to keep their families happy. Although Nastya’s heart still belongs to Vitaly.
Deep in debt, Vitaly lies about a deadly illness and an urgent surgery to trick Nastya into giving him a large sum of money. Devastated by the betrayal, Nastya finds support in Kirill.
